Bringing Old Fish Art Traditions to Life
Do you love fishing stories as much as I do?
Being an angler myself, and passionate about capturing the art of fish at Rivertown Gallery, I wanted to share some stories with you from a few of my angling friends who have my fish replicas!
Here’s Matt Blevins’ Story of a 25.5” brown trout on the White River:
“I was headed up the White River one afternoon, meeting a long-time friend & river guide, Drew. We were going to do some streamer fishing and then later attend the streamer love fest at Dally’s fly shop.
My friend had already been fishing most of the day when I got there. There was just enough daylight left for me to get a few casts in before dark.
The water was raging that weekend (somewhere around 30k cubic feet per second!) I was literally casting into trees halfway covered. About a dozen casts into the trees my line stopped abruptly.
I thought it had to be a tree, but it wasn’t. Then the line started to vibrate & move left to right. A few moments later I had landed my personal best: a 25.5” male brown trout! We threw some high fives, took a few pics, and called it for the day.
I knew I had to have him do my first, and only, replica.
As an angler himself, Duane suggested a more old-fashioned approach for my replica. He suggested making it from carved wood—and it couldn’t have turned out better.
I always have fun revisiting the story when friends come over and see the replica!”
I hope you enjoyed Matt's story! If you’re an angler with a great fishing story and are looking for someone to do a replica for you, call me at (870) 425-3898!
