From Dream to Reality: How Mark Started His Fly-Tying Business

50 years ago, a father and son went out to fish on the Little Red River in Heber Springs.

And from then on, Mark Rezanka embarked on a life-time adventure revolving around a love for fly fishing & fly-tying based on the experience his Dad gave him.

Now based in Fayetteville, AR, Mark is launching his own local fly tying business this year: Marlee Fly Co. The name Marlee originates from a thoughtful combination of Mark’s name and his wife’s: Leenette.

“I eventually want to become a guide. But for now I’m going to start with the fly tying business,” he told Rivertown Gallery in an interview. “I want to do this for the love of the sport and to connect with kindred spirits. I just like to be around the people who share a love for this sport!”

And there’s something special about tying your own flies. To use Mark’s words, “It’s cool to catch a fish on a fly you tied. And I can make the fly however I want it!”

As Mark brainstormed and grew his business ideas towards a launch, he needed a logo. “I wanted to go with something that wasn’t crisp and AI generated like a lot of logos these days.”

Mark owns several commissioned paintings by Duane. And as a fellow angler and conservationist, he resonates witht the personal touch Duane brings to each piece of art.

“So I called Duane up and  gave him a concept for my logo and trusted him to run with it. I wanted something out of the box, not cookie cutter! And it’s not just a logo. It’s art!”

Since then, Duane has created two logos for Marlee Fly Co. The main logo above and a smaller logo below to ensure the business with graphic flexibility depending on their marketing needs.

Are you looking for someone to turn your idea into art? It isn't limited to a logo. As an artist, Duane has been commissioned to bring many dreams into reality.
