Unforgettable Angling Adventures: Stories That Last a Lifetime

Oliver woke up early one morning to enjoy a day fishing the Little Red with his girlfriend, Megan Gray, the angler who landed the unofficial record Brook Trout in 2023.

These anglers aren't just casual fish-catchers though. For them, angling is an artistic hunt toland a trout to remember.

...But it was an easygoing, pleasant morning. They caught small rainbows here and there, enjoying the general fun of it all — but they weren't giving up the hunt for their next trophy fish.

Megan's dad joined them a few hours later and landed a rainbow trout measuring about 20". Spirits soared! Finally, a big fish... were there more out there?

But the hours dragged on as each angler kept pulling in only small fish. Oliver, Megan, and Mr. Gary were stationed about 10 feet from the other, enjoying the rippling water, ebb and flow of the mist around them. Watching. Waiting. With that itching anticipation of catching the fish of their dreams.

"He's out there. I know it!"

What's worse than the hours dragging by and not spotting a trout to remember? A very large brown trout swimming onto the scene, tantalizing you over and over.

The 3 anglers had spotted this big ol' brown in the area. He'd nibble at a fly and swish away... taunting them.

After what seemed like an eternity, Oliver felt a definite tug on his line—and had him.

Big Brown took off upstream and put up a 12-15 minute fight-and-chase before he was finally netted: a feat of its own as he'd see the net and take off again!

After an epic net chase, Oliver was finally able to hold his trophy Brown and feel the satisfaction of time, paitience, and skill paying off.

They took some photos, then Big Brown was released back into the Little Red River, swimming off strong (and ready to be back at his game of tantalizing anglers, probably.)

The excited anglers took off to enjoy some breakfast and talk about the epic story of the morning. Oliver new he needed to preserve this one-of-a-kind catch so he and his family drove straight to Rivertown Gallery to see Duane and order a custom replica of Big Brown.
